Should You Rent Carpet Cleaning Machines?

< >

If you are a professional carpet cleaner offering your services to neighbors, you are probably thinking if it would be wise to just rent carpet cleaning machines. Buying a carpet cleaning equipment costs at least a thousand dollars, and even more if you are eyeing industrial type machines. Well, there are advantages and disadvantages of renting a machine, and the same is also true if you buy one.

If you decide to buy a carpet cleaning machine, you must be ready to shoulder the cost. Of course, this is a one-time investment but it is not really something that small-time carpet cleaning service providers can easily afford. If you are just starting out in this business, then you are better off renting the machine for the meantime, until such time you can already afford to buy it. A mistake that some home-based professional cleaning services make is to buy cheap carpet cleaning machines. They might be delighted with the savings they get initially, but they won’t be so happy six months later when they find out that the machine they bought is no longer able to function.

Having your own machine will prove cost-effective in the long run, more so if you have a lot of bookings for carpet cleaning services. Renting is cheaper in the short term, but when you look at it in the long term, owning a machine is definitely cheaper. In the end, the choice is yours, so think about your options carefully.
