Emergency Dental Care
Emergency Dentists may be required for injuries such as broken or fractured teeth which can come about as a result of facial injury or biting down on a hard substance such as bone, or sometimes little stones which may be cooked accidentally in food. Sometimes infection will occur which may cause the teeth to weaken, resulting in cracks or fractures. Visiting a dentist regularly will usually avoid any weakening of the teeth due to infection. Smaller chips or surface cracks should not cause any concern, as these only affect the outer surface of the tooth and can be treated quite easily.
If a deep crack in the tooth occurs suddenly it is important to seek the help of an Emergency Dentist immediately. Deep cracks can cause the tooth to get infected if not attended to immediately. Infection of the tooth pulp can lead to the requirement of serious and more complex dental procedures. Smaller cracks, when spotted early, should be attended to in order to avoid the aforementioned deep cracks. Fillings can restore small cracks. Broken teeth, especially where the nerves and blood supply vessels are left exposed, can be excruciatingly painful and obviously mean that the tooth will be bleeding. Emergency Dental surgery is required immediately. The dentist will perform a procedure called a root canal to avoid the tooth getting infected; then a crown will be put over the tooth. Even if the tooth will actually be a dead tooth, it can still be treated and cleaned as if it were a healthy one.
